Sriti Jha is an Indian TV actress who was born on February 6, 1986 in Begusarai, Bihar. While pursuing B.A from Sri Venkateswara College(New Delhi), she gave her first audition(at her own college) for Disney Channel’s ‘Dhoom Machao Dhoom(in 2007)’ and got selected for the role of a superstitious and introvert girl Malini Sharma in the show. The show was being shot in Delhi itself, and when the show shifted its location from Delhi to Mumbai, She too moved to Mumbai and this is how her career started. Sriti Jha’s, better known as Jhalli, Titu or Paagal Aurat, native place is Darbhanga(Bihar), but she was born on February 6, 1986 in Begusarai, Bihar. Shortly after her birth, her family shifted to Kolkata from where she completed her primary schooling. After that, her family shifted again to Kathmandu(Nepal) and there she joined Modern Indian School. Soon, the family shifted once again to Delhi and lived there until Sriti completed her schooling from Laxman Public School.
After schooling, she pursued B.A from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi. There she also joined Verbum which is an English dramatics society, and became an active member of it. In the English dramatics society, she acted in many plays, but one of them was peculiar among them: ‘Ritual in Blood’ written by Steven Berkoff. She played the role so well that she was awarded as Best Actor for her performance.
She was so active in the society that later she became the President of the society as well.
Interestingly, she was famous in her school days, but not for acting. Instead she was famous for dancing. Not many know this fact, but Sriti Jha is a good dancer as well.
Breaking into the TV Industry

She gave her first audition for Disney Channel’s ‘Dhoom Machao Dhoom’ in 2007 at Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi. Interestingly, it was the very same college from where she was pursuing her B.A.
She said, “I’m part of a great job where I get paid to learn. My first brush with the world of showbiz happened when I got selected while I auditioned for Dhoom Machao Dhoom at my college in Delhi.”
And as we all know, she got the role of Malini Sharma in the show. The show was being shot in Delhi itself at that time, and when the show shifted its location from Delhi to Mumbai, She too moved to Mumbai and this is how her career started.
After Dhoom Machao Dhoom, she got the role of Sunaina in 9X’s Jiya Jale in 2008. The serial didn’t run for long, but Sriti started getting offers. Then, she was selected for a daily soap ‘Angad’ which unfortunately was discarded by makers for some reason. Then in 2009, she did two shows together. First was Star Plus’ ‘Shaurya Aur Suhani’ where she did role of a princess Suhani. And second was NDTV Imagine’s ‘Jyoti’ where she played the role of lead female’s sister Sudha Sharma. It was ‘Jyoti’ from which Sriti rose to prominence. After that she played the role of a blind girl in ‘Rakt Sambhand.’
After ‘Rakt Sambhand’ she played the lead role of Jhanvi Viraj Dobriyal with co-actors Karanvir Singh Bohra and Harshad Chopra in Life Ok’s ‘Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhava?’ in 2011.
And when ‘Dil Se Di Dua…Saubhagyavati Bhava?’ went off air in 2013, she joined the crew of Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu.’ In that show, she played the role of Ganga against Shashank Vyas.Then she joined Zee TV’s ‘KumKum Bhagya’ in 2014, and since then she’s playing the lead female role of of Pragya in the show.
Sriti was also seen in Star Plus’ ‘Nach Baliye 7,’ and Guest Zing’s ‘Bad Company’ in 2015 as a guest. Besides this, Sriti Jha also gave the opening voiceover in the Colors’ ‘Naagin Season 2’ in its first episode.
